Lost but now foundMar 14, 2010 My Husband has been bugging me to find this popcorn maker. I tried several well known stores and no one had it in stock at this time of year. I was told it was a end of year holiday item. Lo and behold Amazon had it. I ordered it for him and he's been poping away ever since. It's great because he's recently gone on a diet and has enjoyed it as one of his special low fat treats.
Too hard to cleanMar 14, 2010 I am a popcorn fanatic... I eat it at least once a week. Normally, I just use a normal pot on the stove, which I've done all my life. I was given this whirley popper as a christmas present, so I used it instead for a while. And here are my conclusions.
1) It doesn't work much better than just using a pot on the stove. Both seemed to leave a few unpopped kernels, perhaps the whirley popper left fewer, but this is no big deal because you can just eat them or throw them in with the next batch.
2) The Whirley pop's lid is *very* hard to clean by hand. Once oil starts to collect in the hinges, it was all over, because it started to get rancid.
3) I'd get burnt spots on the bottom of the pot. This is a problem with almost any pot, but the Whirley pop's metal is very thin, so it happens more often.
4) The lid has a hinge which allows you to open half the pot to pour some popcorn out. Not a bad idea, but I found that it didn't work properly because as I was pouring, the other half of the lid would always fall open as well.
Eventually, I just threw it out. It's a fine device for people who don't really know what they're doing, but I'm far more efficient with my normal pot anyway.

How did I live without a Whirly-PopMar 08, 2010 We've had most every kind of popcorn popper - even tried the air popper (you know, the one that made popcorn Styrofoam!) and finally we just kept bags of microwave popcorn for when the grandchildren visited.
Things have change since we got the Whirly Pop - We find a reason to fix a batch of popcorn nearly every day. Thanks for a great product and for the quick service.

Melts in your mouthFeb 24, 2010 3 years of heavy use and no problems with popper.I found that the quicker I empty popper the tenderer the kernels.I think the heat and steam in pot toughens kernels. I also bought gallon container of coconut oil from Amazon Grocery for $20 dollars. It should last a long time at 2-3 teaspoons a pop.Everywhere I read said coconut oil is what the movie theaters use for that special taste. It's true, compared to canola oil no contest.Popcorn made in Whirley pop with coconut oil is delicous and closest to theater popcorn.I'll never eat microwave popcorn or use convential oils in popper again.

GREAT!Feb 11, 2010 This is one of the best ways to enjoy fresh popcorn. Fresh popcorn is much healthier than most microwave pop corns on the market.
