1Used it for 2 months, and then it failed, probably from static electricity dischargeNov 16, 2009
Used it for 2 months and then it died. My guess is the failure was due to a static electricity discharge. It's now November, and the air in my house is drier, and my body gets a static charge. So when I plugged in a USB device, a small spark (several hundred if not thousand volts) fried the electronics. One would hope that the engineers built circuitry that would shunt a static electricity discharge harmlessly to ground. The better devices (of all kinds) have this feature. Apparently this USB hub doesn't. So I can't recommend it for use except in humid climates.

It is in a nice metal case, though I would have preferred the four ports in the front and three in the back.

The Message from Win XP - One the USB devices has malfunctioned and computer cannot recognize it. It now goes into the recycle bin. Postage would cost about half of what I paid for it so it is now e-Trash.

After this failure, I put a static discharge mat under my keyboard, and now I'm going to buy another brand and hope for better luck.

3Cheap and UnreliableNov 07, 2009
Hubs aren't complicated. Getting them right should be simple. It works most of the time, but unfortunately, this hub has a nasty habit of randomly disconnecting all of its devices at inopportune moments. There's not much more to say than that.

4Does the jobNov 07, 2009
I had a USB connector that worked flawlessly for years, but finally it bit the dust. I did a fair amount of research for a replacement and found this one. I bought it because it isn't clunky or two big. It's hard to get excited about a USB connector, but hey, this one seems to be doing the job splendidly. No complaints so far.

5Just What I Needed!Oct 31, 2009
I have a lot of flash drives (each 16 GB) that are constantly in use because of my graphics work. This hub lets me use a USB scanner, printer & 5 flash drives. The unit sits nicely on my desk, never tips over or moves even though I don't have it affixed to my desk. The blue light that everyone talks about is not that bright. If it bothers you, put a piece of masking tape over it.
I would highly recommend this unit as it has worked splendidly for me.

4Much better than expectedOct 21, 2009
Solidly built in an aluminum enclosure. Comes ready to mount (optionally). Heavy enough not to be dragged around by the cables attached to it.

I like it well enough I may replace an existing 7 port hub with another one of these.
